2. Design Day (September 26, 2008)

Design Day is a giant brainstorming session that was be held at Hopewell Elementary School on Friday, September 26, 2008.

John Dean, our playground designer from Leathers & Associates, spent a full day gathering ideas and inspiration from design-related activities:
— Walked through the parks and town with Hopewell Borough officials
— Visited briefly with every class at Hopewell Elementary to hear kids ideas for 'dream playgrounds'
— Met with HBPP committee members
— Reviewed historical information about the borough
— Read through design essays, ideas, and drawings from Timberlane Middle School and other area elementary school students.

Using the information he collected, Mr. Dean drew the new playground schematics in the school's cafetorium where students can watch him work. Later in the evening, he presented the schematics to the entire Hopewell Valley community at the Design Day Celebration.

Because community members of all ages shareed their visions with our designer, the results were custom, one-of-a-kind play spaces with something for everyone.
